Wisconsin pickleball tournaments

The recurring Wisconsin events, the month each one usually falls in, who runs it and where to register, followed by how sanctioning, skill divisions and sign-ups work under USA Pickleball's own pages. Checked October 26, 2026.

Wisconsin has no single state tournament calendar. Events are listed by their organizers, on tourism and sports-commission pages, and on registration platforms such as PickleballTournaments.com, pickleball.com and SWISH. USA Pickleball's own event calendar, opened on October 26, 2026, showed no Wisconsin events in its month view. The table below lists the events that organizer or listing pages describe as annual, or that have run in more than one year; the Senior Classic is included as a US Senior Pickleball circuit event, though only its 2024 listing was found. Dates are given only where an opened page states them, "as listed" on October 26, 2026. For what the bracket names mean, see tournament formats; for the numbers on entry forms, see ratings explained.

How USA Pickleball sanctioning works

None of the Wisconsin event pages above names USA Pickleball sanctioning; the Senior Classic is US Senior Pickleball approved and the Challenger runs under the PPA. Where an event is sanctioned, USA Pickleball's sanctioning page sets these terms:

  • Three levels. No-Referee (a certified referee onsite as head referee), Medal Match Plus (referees for the finals and medal matches) and Standard (every match refereed). Events with prize money or more than 300 players cannot use No-Referee.
  • Membership. Every player must be a USA Pickleball member in good standing; the FAQ answers "Yes. This is a requirement."
  • Ball and rules. The director declares a USA Pickleball approved tournament ball and follows the official tournament rules and approved formats.
  • Ratings. Sanctioned results count 100% toward the UTPR rating; non-sanctioned events have counted 0% since April 1, 2021. Results are due within one week.
  • Calendar and timing. Sanctioned events appear on USA Pickleball's calendar; registration should open no more than 90 days before the start. PickleballTournaments.com is the recommended software.
  • Insurance. Members get secondary accident insurance at sanctioned events.

Age and skill divisions

  • Age. USA Pickleball's format guide (modified March 26, 2026) groups juniors (18 and under), adults (19+) and seniors (50+), with brackets 30+, 40+, 50+, 55+, 60+ and on up to 80+. Your age is your age on December 31 of the tournament year, and a player who asks to play down in age group must be allowed to.
  • Skill. In rated events a player may not enter an event rated lower, and may play higher only at the director's discretion. The director places self-rated and unrated players.
  • UTPR. USA Pickleball's tournament rating may be used to seed sanctioned events. A new player's first rating starts at the average of the players in their first bracket.
  • Platforms. pickleball.com's help pages say it rounds a rating down to the nearest 0.5 for eligibility and never lets a player register below their level, and that events you don't qualify for are grayed out. If an event uses DUPR, you link your DUPR account first. The Badger State Games entry page shows a "DUPR Submitted" label but does not say which rating sets its divisions.

Registering, step by step

  1. Create a player account on the platform the event uses (PickleballTournaments.com, pickleball.com, SWISH or the organizer's own site).
  2. Find the tournament, choose your events, and check each event's skill and age limits.
  3. For doubles, enter your partner's name and email; on pickleball.com the partner needs an account and is notified by email.
  4. Sign the waiver, pay, and keep the confirmation email.
  5. For a USA Pickleball sanctioned event, confirm your membership is current before the deadline.

First-tournament checklist

  • Register early: the deadlines above fell 3 to 10 days before play.
  • Know which rating the event uses (DUPR, UTPR or self-rating) and enter at or above your level.
  • Expect divisions to be combined if entries are low; the Madtown, Badger State and Senior Classic pages all say so.
  • Practice with the named ball (Franklin X-40 at Badger State and the Senior Classic, Joola HC-40 at Madtown).
  • Read the format and guaranteed matches; see tournament formats and the bracket calculator.
  • Bring photo ID for age-group events (the Senior Olympics requires it), plenty of water, and arrive early, as the Senior Classic page asks.
  • This site cannot register you; use each organizer's page.
